Mary Silverman, LCSW

Assistant Clinical Supervisor

Bio

Mary graduated from Fordham University in 2018 with a Masters in Social Work, and has a Bachelors in Social Work with a minor in psychology from Molloy College in 2017.

She wants to offer a comfortable and supportive environment where clients can feel empowered to grow to their full potential. She believes every person comes with a unique background and story and that clients are the experts on their lives. Mary makes her clients feel comfortable by incorporating a non judgmental approach, and when appropriate, using humor and a light hearted attitude.

The clinician's goal is to become a partner in change with clients to make them feel heard and seen as they begin their process of finding new hope and healing.

She has experience in working with adults and children as young as 5 who have been affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and incest. This includes both men and women, and people belonging to the LGTBQ community. She also has experience working with children and teens experiencing depression, anxiety, self injury, and emotional regulation difficulties. She has worked with children and teens in a variety of settings and also has experience working with adults with varying mental health concerns. Mary has a passion for group work and enjoys facilitating different group experiences.

Mary utilizes a trauma informed lens and takes careful consideration of the impacts of racism, sexism, homophobia/transphobia, and socio-economic status. Her theoretical orientations are empowerment theory, attachment theory, strengths perspective, person in environment theory, and incorporating CBT, DBT and nervous system regulation skills into sessions. She looks at her clients as the experts on their lives and hopes to help create a partnership to heal and grow.
